Wayne Stirling Parker

Race History

Wayne has an extensive background in motorsport, with over 30 years experience in front wheel drive saloons, rear wheel drive GTs and two-driver endurance races. He began competitive racing in 1990 in sprint and hillclimb events with an Austin Mini Special. In 1994 he progressed to circuit racing in the MG Metro Cup.

Wayne spent many years in the 1990s racing in the MG Metro Cup championship. During this time he was a class representative for the championship. In 1998 Tiff Needell raced at Silverstone in the championship which featured on BBC Top Gear.

In the 2000s Wayne raced a Jaguar XJS and also returned to speed events in a Jaguar XK8. He has raced in numerous two-driver races in different championships, including 750MC Road Sports, CSCC Modern Classics, MGCC events and at the Spa 6 hours weekend.

Wayne has raced at circuits throughout the UK including Pembrey in Wales, Knockhill in Scotland and also at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. In 2005 he tested for the Motors TV Nurburgring 24-hour race team, in Issoire in France. During his racing career he secured many class wins, pole positions and fastest laps.

Wayne always competed with British saloon and sports manufacturers and these include Austin Mini, MG Metro, MG ZR, Rover Metro GTI, Rover BRM, Jaguar XJS and Jaguar XK8. He has also driven single seaters including Crossle Formula Ford, Ralt RT3 Formula 3 and Arrows FA14 Formula 1 cars.

Wayne was also a grade 'A' ARDS race driving instructor, providing circuit tuition and as a Pro Driver for car manufacturers.

 

Wayne's father Gaylord 'Gay' Parker raced with success in 1960s production saloons with a Mini Cooper S 970cc. He later raced in the British Leyland Mini 7 Challenge in the 1970s through to the early 1980s.
